INDOOR WINTER CHALLENGE
Again this year there will be an Indoor Winter Challenge.
The more people the better, will also give you a recorded score
for comparison next Winter.
From the 12th October 2025 until the 30th November 2025 submit you’re
verified scores using the Portsmouth 60cm targets. It will be a 60 arrow
round that is normally completed in 40-45 minutes.
Submit scores for all bows you use.
From the 1st December 2025 until the 25th January 2026 submit you’re
verified scores using the Worcester targets (black & white). It will be a 60
arrow round that can be completed within the hour.
Submit scores for all the bows you use.
From the 26th January 2026 until the 8th March 2026 submit you’re verified
scores using a WA18 target (3 spot vertical), single 40cm Portsmouth or 3 spot Vegas target). It will be a 60 arrow round.
From the 9th March 2026 until the 22nd March 2026 submit you’re highest verified
scores again using the Portsmouth 60cm targets, these scores will then be used with
the October/November highest Portsmouth score to go towards the Indoor Portsmouth
Improvement Award.
Compound max Poundage.
While shooting outdoors at Napton the max draw weight will be 60lbs for Compound bows.
While shooting indoors at Thornfield, the max draw weight for the Foam bosses will be 40lb
for Compound bows. A max draw weight of 50lb will be allowed for Compound bows if shooting
the bag.
INDOOR SHOOTING
Winter is on the way and we’ll be moving indoors into Thornfield Bowling Club function room.
First sessions are on Sunday 5th October at 11:00, 12:00 & 13:00 hrs, bookings for these will
be available on ClubEvent from Monday 29th September at 7:00am.
Thursdays will be from the 9th October at 18:00 & 19:00 hrs, bookings for these will be available
on ClubEvent from Friday 3rd October at 7:00am.
There is a maximum of 8 people per session so book early, anybody not booking in has a very
good possibilty of not being able to shoot.
Anybody in the first session please turn up 20 minutes early to help set-up, anybody in the last
session please stay behind and help clear away.
Napton will still be open until the Saturday 11th October end of day.
Volunteers will be needed, when arranged, to help store the bosses at Napton.

Class Classification Shoot

For all those who have only shot one round so far, this is your last
chance this year to complete your Class Classification.

Sunday the 31st August at 11:30am a class classification shoot will be held.
Those that have already done one come and get your second score.
Or anybody not done it yet come and get your first score.
All welcome regardless of bow or skill level.

Fun Target Competition
Sunday 13th July at 11:30am, there will be a fun target competition being held.
All are welcome, regardless of skill or bow used.
Beginners Course July/Aug
Other than knowing your left from your right there is absolutely no experience required to take a beginner’s course. Unless you are an experienced archer, taking one of our courses is the only way to become a shooting member.
The course costs £60 per junior (under 21) and £70 per senior and is made up of three two-hour sessions held on Thursday evenings. Details for each session are detailed below. Under 18s must be accompanied by a guardian to all sessions. There are no exceptions to this. If this is the case, you might want to consider taking the course yourself, rather than watching for the duration.
