Rugby Archers

Again this year there will be an Indoor Winter Challenge.

The more people the better, will also give you a recorded score for comparison next Winter.

From the 1^st  November 2026 until the 25^th December 2026 submit you’re verified scores using the Portsmouth 60cm targets.  It will be a 60 arrow round that is normally completed in 40-45 minutes.     Submit scores for all bows you use.

From the 26^th December 2026 until the 14^th February 2027 submit you’re verified scores using the Worcester targets (black & white).  It will be a 60 arrow round that can be completed within the hour. Submit scores for all the bows you use.

From the 15^th February 2027 until the 14^th March 2027 submit you’re verified scores using a WA18 target (3 spot vertical), single 40cm Portsmouth or Vegas target (triangular 3 spot).  It will be a 60 arrow round. Submit scores for all the bows you use.

On the Thursday 18^th March 2027 and the Sunday 21^st March 2027 there will be an end of Season Competition shot on a Portsmouth 60cm target in the categories of:- Men, Women, Barebow,  Recurve and Traditional,  submit you’re highest verified scores.

The highest scores from your Portsmouth rounds during November and December will be used with last years scores towards the Indoor Portsmouth Improvement Award.  Medals for the top three most improved.

There will also be free badges for your highest score achieved on the Worcester rounds within the specified times.

Napton will be open for shooting until 31st October 2026.

Some volunteers are needed on the Saturday 31st for packing the bosses away and tidying the field.

I have created a Club Event for Saturday 31st October with shooting until 1:00pm and then pack away.

On Sat 10th Oct, we’re running our Frostbite shoot. For those who haven’t shot one before.
It’s 36 arrows at 80cm face at 30m. It’s a fast paced winter outdoor round and a bit of fun.
Entry open 1 week before (as per normal) on ClubEvent, please sign up beforehand so we have an idea of numbers

Get your thinking caps on for this Sunday is a Captains Mistress Challenge.

Other than knowing your left from your right there is absolutely no experience required to take a beginner’s course. Unless you are an experienced archer, taking one of our courses is the only way to become a shooting member.

The course costs £60 per junior (under 21) and £70 per senior and is made up of two three-hour sessions held on Saturday mornings. Details for each session are detailed below. Under 18s must be accompanied by a guardian to all sessions. There are no exceptions to this. If this is the case, you might want to consider taking the course yourself, rather than watching for the duration.
