Archery Open Day

We are taking part in Archery GB’s Start Archery Week celebration. On Saturday 13 May, from 10.30am to 3pm, we’ll be having an open day where anyone can come along, have a go at archery and learn about the club.

We’ll be on the sports field at Harris Academy School in Rugby (What3Words: eagles.solo.poet). There is a suggested donation of Β£2 per person per go, and half of all monies collected on the day will go to Macmillan Cancer Support. Obviously, if you want to donate more, we’re not going to stop you!

If you want to shoot, please make sure you’re wearing closed-toe shoes. We cannot allow anyone to use the equipment wearing open-toed shoes (including Crocs!).

Parking is available at the venue.

Here’s what’s going to happen on the day:

Get a taste of archery!

Our members will be around to help you hit the gold. They’ll help you learn how to hold a bow, how to aim and how to shoot your very first arrows!

Balloons, card games and prizes!

Shooting at balloons is a favourite activity amongst our members, so we’ll definitely be giving you the chance to have some fun and see how many balloons you can pop. We’ll also have an archery card game set up and, if you’re feeling lucky, you could even win a small prize!

Demonstrations

Throughout the day our members will be demonstrating the different bowstyles that can be shot at our club, and you’ll have the chance to ask them any questions you have about archery and about Rugby Archers.

All ages welcome

No one’s left out on this open day! We’ll be having soft archery kits for those under the age of 9 to have a go, too.

Book onto one of our beginners’ courses

We’re going to be announcing the dates for our summer beginners’ courses at the event, giving attendees the chance to be the first to bag a place! Places are Β£70 for over 18s and Β£60 for under, but everyone who signs up on the day will be given a Β£5 discount (payment in cash or via BACS only). And, if as if that’s not enough, each person who puts their name down will be given a free copy of Archery GB’s book, The Archery for Beginners Guidebook!

There’ll also be snacks, refreshments, a few freebies (while stocks last) and plenty of fun. We’re looking forward to see you all on the day!
